The Farm

Prior Farm is a nearly three-century-old homestead rooted in the history of Duxbury, Massachusetts. Our home was commissioned to be built by Benjamin Prior in 1732. Benjamin Prior was a wealthy fur trader in the Duxbury community. Then home was said to be situated on a nearly 80 acre piece of land with ponds, gardens and an orchard. The Prior family lived in this home for many generations until it was sold to the Fish family just after the Civil War. Mr. Fish was employed to oversee the building of Duxbury’s railroad and train station.

What began as one of the area’s early farms continues today as a place of stewardship, cultivation, and seasonal beauty. Surrounded by a mature apple orachard, gardens, and meadow, the farm is being thoughtfully restored while honoring the generations who cared for the land before us.

Today, Prior Farm is home to specialty flowers, heritage fruit trees, an apiary, and a growing collection of projects inspired by the rhythms of coastal New England farm life. We are committed to growing beautiful things, preserving a historic place, and sharing the seasons with our community.

Thank you for being part of the story.
